Views of trees and nature reduce physiological stress, including driving stress. Viewer Tip: American Forests plants trees in urban settings, many along roadways to reduce driving stress. Climate Change

Where Have My Trees Gone?

In these days of warm winters, forests in the area are changing. Northern species such as Jack Pine, Balsam Fir, and Spruce are struggling to reproduce in a climate that is no longer conducive to their survival. But, southern tree species are not always quick to replace them. Barriers like agricultural land and residential areas hinder dispersal, and the rate of climate change is outpacing the rate at which these trees can migrate.
Viewer Tip: This is an issue of loss of biomass in our northern forests. You can support increasing forest biomass by planting trees at www.americanforests.org.
