While we in the U.S. have spent the last year or two gearing up to exercise our right to vote, Ecuador has been contemplating rights of a different kind. The country recently approved a new constitution in which nature is granted constitutional rights and protection. The first constitution of its kind, it has been established in a country that is home to such biodiversity as the Galapagos islands and the Amazon jungle.
