American Forests joined with a consortium of conservation and community development organizations and municipal and county governments, including Urban Drawdown Initiative, the Trust for Public Land, The Davey Tree Expert Co. and the Urban Sustainability Directors Network to galvanize support for the protection and expansion of urban and community forests.

The goal of the Trees for Community Recovery campaign is to direct at least $4 billion in annual federal investment over the next five years to conserving, restoring and growing urban and community forests. These forests would create more than 100,000 family-supporting jobs, with a priority in underserved communities of color.

To reach this goal, Trees for Community Recovery is providing education and advocacy leadership for urban forestry policy to community leaders and developing urban forestry workforce systems that can adapt to fit the needs of communities around the country.
